We are hiring a full-time, permanent Systems Analyst position working out of Edmonton, AB.  

   

EPCOR has an exciting opportunity for a skilled Systems Analyst to join the Billing Applications Team.   

   

As the Systems Analyst, you will be accountable for the full range of application design, development, implementation, maintenance, support, and documentation functions related to multiple EPCOR applications. This includes achieving set operational requirements for ad hoc support, ticket support, system enhancements, and acting as a resource for major capital projects. What you'd be responsible for

  • Providing input to the Billing Applications teams' plans and directions, and ensure on-going appropriate relationships with other positions
  • Ensuring the delivery of optimal results against appropriate performance metrics:
    • Delivery on Change Request estimates
    • Incident Delivery and Responsiveness
    • Customer Satisfaction Surveys
    • System Availability
    • Knowledge Management KPI's
  • Employing open communication and problem solving skills to identify defects and resolve issues efficiently and effectively within expected timeframes
  • Resolving customer issues and incidents efficiently and effectively within expected timeframes
  • Abiding by all Application Services departmental policies and processes for the purpose of consistent support and administrative practices throughout Application Services
  • Providing valuable contributions to documentation and knowledgebase to allow for the long-term sustainability of EPCOR IS
  • Providing expert advice and collaborates with other members of Application Services to allow for the creation and maintenance of dependable, efficient, and quality application solutions
  • Executing daily job duties with a focus on continuous improvement of processes and systems
  • Reacting to system availability issues with the required urgency and overseeing root cause analysis on issues as a way of proactively preventing them in the future
  • Working effectively with business users and peers from all levels as assigned by the manager of the area
  • Employing active learning skills and technical expertise to acquire knowledge of the technical components and business processes of supported systems
  • Demonstrating a high performance, high discipline, safe, accountable, focused, innovative and achievement-oriented, easy to do business with manner of working

What's required to be successful

  • Completion of a 4-year Computer Science or Engineering degree, or a 2-year Computer Engineering/System Technology diploma from a recognized post-secondary institute is required
  • A minimum of 4 years of directly related experience with IS applications is required.
    • Candidates possessing less than the required years of experience may be considered in a developmental opportunity position
  • Extensive experience with large, complex and mission critical applications
  • A minimum of 4 years of professional experience in systems analysis
  • A minimum of 4 years of professional experience in application development
  • Experience with data analytics, dashboards, and Business Intelligence (Oracle)
  • Strong understanding in SQL Programming against various common enterprise databases including SQL Server and Oracle
  • Broad knowledge of computer systems technology, programming and design techniques
  • Experience in multiple programming languages (e.g. Java or C# languages)
  • Understanding of Object-Oriented concepts, and design patterns
  • Exposure to SAP ISU will be an added advantage
  • Exposure to Utilities billing system will be an added advantage
  • Experience with multiple toolsets for deployment, source control, and batch programming
  • Demonstrated capability to design, develop and unit test IS solutions using one or more common programming languages
  • Ability to react with urgency to troubleshoot critical issues when faced with application availability situations

Class: IT2  

Wage: IT2 starting at $53.05 per hour; developmental (IT1) starting at $48.58 per hour  

  • Placement based on qualifications, credentials and experience; final wage and step will be determined at the time of selection and based on a combination of factors as outlined in the Collective Agreement.

Hours of work: 75 hours biweekly
