We are hiring a Senior Manager of Analytical Operations working out of our Rossdale Water Treatment Plant (WTP).

 

This position is responsible for the performance of integrated water and wastewater laboratories, in alignment with all applicable standards. This includes confirming EPCOR is adequately accredited and has an appropriate quality assurance program, including up to date, detailed procedures and business workflows.

 

Your accountabilities would include delivering efficient laboratory operations, customer services and a robust quality management system. The position also provides internal expertise and direction to all areas of the business around public health policy and decisions.

 

We are looking for someone who can bring at least ten years' experience in a combination of water utility, regulatory, analytical laboratory, and information technology roles with advanced knowledge of public health and environmental risk management frameworks. Additionally, we are looking for an experienced leader who can develop talent, lead a highly skilled team of laboratory specialists, and provide coaching and support.

 

 

What you'd be responsible for

 

Planning 

·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  Developing an operational plan that translates the organization's strategy into executable objectives (1-2 years).

·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  Defining clear priorities and actions for the upcoming annual work plan.

·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  Anticipating longer-term issues, challenges, and opportunities.

What's required to be successful

 

·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  Degree in engineering, public health or science (chemistry, environmental or biological sciences).

·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  10+ year experience in water/wastewater industry, public health or regulatory (environment).

·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  Advanced degree in public health, science or engineering an asset.

·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  Understanding of water and wastewater quality, impacts on public and environmental health.

·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  Experience or exposure to the operations of laboratories, including chemical and microbiological analytical test method.

·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  Experience or exposure to laboratory management accreditation ISO/IEC 17025:2017. Knowledge of Quality and Environmental Management Systems e.g. ISO 9001, 14001.

·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  Leadership roles and leading diverse teams in a unionized environment.

·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  A proven track record in leading collaborative change.
