| The Saskatchewan Health Quality Council (HQC) works in service of the province and its citizens to meet the challenges of improving health and health care. As an independent, evidence-driven organization, we share our expertise in systems thinking and educational design to help build the capability to improve. We also influence policy and delivery by identifying what works and why through objective analysis. The Indigenous Health Researcher will work closely with key health system partners, post-secondary academic institutions, community-based organizations, government sectors, and patient partners to accelerate improvement in the quality of health and health care for First Nations and Métis people in Saskatchewan. The Researcher will help our organization build and lead research activity to support and advance our strategic focus of supporting First Nations & Métis communities to make sustainable improvements to enhance their health and wellness. The researcher will also be responsible for 1) advancing the use of data analytics to inform evidence-based decision making, practice, and policy through research collaborations; and, 2) designing and developing measurement infrastructure with our partners to address gaps in health and health care quality while building capacity and capability with our partners. As the Indigenous Health Researcher, you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You will be a strategic thinker and have strong leadership skills, by giving direction and fostering the ongoing learning or development of self and others. You will have experience in working with First Nations and Métis communities and organizations. As the successful candidate, you will have a good understanding of research principles, practices, and protocols. You will have knowledge in a specialized area of research methodology, such as survey design and administration, qualitative research methods and analysis, longitudinal analysis, time-series analysis, hierarchical regression modelling, spatial analysis or cost analysis. You will have good analytical and presentation skills and be proficient with statistical/analytical software, database and spreadsheet programs, word processing applications, and virtual meeting programs. As the successful candidate, you will have a Master’s or a PhD degree in a relevant discipline, such as health science, social science, or statistics along with three years' work experience, preferably in a health environment. Knowledge and experience in research involving health administrative, clinical databases, and training in quality improvement science, tools, and methods would be considered assets. You must hold a valid driver’s license, entitling you to drive in Saskatchewan. You must also provide and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check. | |
