Join one of BC’s Top 100 Employers! The City of Coquitlam is seeking an Arena Maintenance Worker for the Strategic Initiatives Department. Reporting to the Arena Maintenance Supervisor, the Arena Maintenance Worker is responsible for operational and technical work performed in a year-round multipurpose sports arena. An incumbent ensures the effective functioning of refrigeration and ice-making equipment; assists in the development and implementation of preventive maintenance schedules; and as required, obtains the services of private contractors to perform emergency or major repairs. In addition, an incumbent of this class directs the work of a small group of staff involved in ice-making, building maintenance and janitorial tasks on an assigned shift. Duties are performed in accordance with established practices and procedures but independent action and judgement are exercised in the technical aspects of the work. Work performance is reviewed on the basis of effectiveness of the service provided and conformance to established practices and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have completed high school supplemented with technical courses related to the position plus sound related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Requirements include a valid First Aid certificate, a 5th Class Power Engineer Ticket (Refrigeration) as well as a Driver’s License.

The successful candidate will be required to work at least one weekend shift and the occasional evening shift. Applicants under consideration may be required to consent to a Police Information Check. Please attach a recent driver’s abstract (within 30 days) to your application.

A CUPE hourly rate of $27.45-$32.25 and a comprehensive benefits package is being offered.
