| Chief Financial Officer Ontario Federation of Indigenous Friendship Centres (OFIFC) This is a unique opportunity for an accomplished financial leader to join one of Ontario's most impactful Urban Indigenous organizations, as Chief Financial Officer. The Ontario Federation of Indigenous Friendship Centres (OFIFC) was founded in 1971 and works to support, advocate for, and build the capacity of member Friendship Centres across Ontario. The OFIFC represents the collective interests of 29 Friendship Centres in cities and towns across the province. OFIFC strives to increase the range and influence of the work of Friendship Centres through research, policy advocacy, training, and program support. Emerging from a nationwide, grassroots movement dating back to the 1950s, Friendship Centres are Indigenous governed and informed, community hubs where Indigenous people living in towns, cities, and urban centres can access culturally based and culturally appropriate programs and services every day. Reporting to the CEO and as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the inaugural CFO will provide overall financial leadership for OFIFC. They will be looked upon to develop financial strategies, metrics, and implement control systems designed to preserve and grow organizational assets and ensure robust reporting of financial results, with the vision of OFIFC becoming self-sufficient for years to come. The CFO is also expected to continue to build, develop, and sustain ongoing mutually beneficial, reciprocal relationships with Friendship Centres, funders, and other stakeholders that are grounded in trust and respect through collaborative initiatives and engagement. To this end, the CFO works in close partnership with colleagues across the OFIFC in promoting and advancing best practices, standards, and systems to support the financial and administrative needs of the Friendship Centres effectively and efficiently. As a trusted advisor and resource, the CFO will communicate information in a transparent, honest, and clear manner. This includes active listening, comprehending, being respectful of diverse opinions, and responding appropriately when interacting with internal and external stakeholders. As the ideal candidate, you have the breadth of skills and knowledge to lead a finance team that is engaged, service-oriented, and aligned with the Friendship Centre vision - to improve the quality of life for Indigenous people living in an urban environment by supporting self-determined activities which encourage equal access to and participation in Canadian society and which respect Indigenous cultural distinctiveness. You hold a professional accounting designation, ideally coupled with a degree in business or a related discipline. An ideal candidate should also have experience and/or leadership working within the nonprofit sector and knowledge and experience working with Indigenous communities. You are respected for your exceptional judgment, integrity, humility, and professionalism and bring to the OFIFC strong verbal and written communication, presentation, and facilitation skills. Your innovative problem-solving and negotiation abilities and continuous improvement mindset will be valued, as will your consultative, collegial, and humble approach to relationship building.
