The Server Specialist is responsible for the administration, maintenance and troubleshooting of the Colleges servers and networks. Additionally, this position provides advice and guidance to the entire College community, corporate clients and other educational institutions regarding servers, network infrastructure and the complex interdependencies that exist between these systems and the applications, operating systems and workstations that they support. The responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Maintains College server environment by planning, upgrading, tuning and troubleshooting the applications and operating systems running on College servers; • Plans, assesses and implements network infrastructure and/or network resources that meet the College performance needs; • Develops utility software to provide enhanced automation or control of College server or network resources, and develops scripts to help maintain or automate computing resources at the College; • Interacts with the Desktop Specialist and Technicians to ensure workstations / servers coexist in the best possible fashion, and acts in the role of troubleshooter and technician as required; and, • Works in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act. | |

Salary | Payband K: $39.43 To $45.72/hour |
Education Requirements | • A 4 year degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Networking, Network Administration; |
Experience | • Eight (8) years’ experience in the Information Technology field including at least four years of progressive experience installing, administering, supporting, troubleshooting, tuning and testing Unix and Windows servers, as well as workstations; • Ability to work in a complex multi-vendor environment; • Ability to work in a team environment; and, • Strong communication, analytical and problem solving skills. |
