Six (6) temporary, full-time positions – Richmond, BC

As an Electromechanical Specialist, you will primarily provide preventive and corrective maintenance of the electromechanical aspects of all types of postal equipment to ensure its good working order and continued operation. This includes all phases of maintenance, i.e. troubleshooting, testing, repair and monitoring of mail-processing and mail-handling equipment. In this role, you will also be responsible for maintaining the associated electrical and electronic portions of systems.

These temporary assignments of 5 to 6 months, offering the possibility of an extension and/or permanency, will be of interest to Industrial Mechanics, Millwrights, Mechanical Technicians and Mechanical Technologists.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

You bring a successful track record to the role of Specialist, Electromechanics:
• Completion (at minimum) of a 2-year post-secondary program in either a mechanical or electromechanical field (these trades/programs could include industrial mechanic, millwright, mechanical technician/technologist). DEC in Quebec.
• Two (2) years of experience (within the last five years) in the maintenance and repair of a variety of mechanical or electromechanical systems and equipment, or a diploma per educational requirements above funded by Canada Post in the last five years.
• Proficiency in English.
• Knowledge of testing, diagnosis and adjusting of mechanical or electro-mechanical systems and equipment.
• Understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and principles.
• Basic understanding of electronics and electrical systems and principles.
• Ability to exercise physical effort in lifting heavy equipment and tools, and perform maintenance routines under a variety of conditions, including cramped spaces, heights and other awkward positions.
• Ability to:
o Operate a computer and use programs such as Windows and MS Office.
o Recommend changes in prevention maintenance procedures and practices.
o Conduct investigations to determine cause of breakdowns and recommend remedial action to prevent recurrences.
o Troubleshoot.
o Initiate work orders requesting corrective actions.
o Report on circumstances surrounding equipment failures, and recommend measures for corrective actions.
o Educate other personnel on safe and effective operating procedures for the equipment/systems in use.
