Bring your strong analytical skills to this dynamic opportunity The Office of the Seniors Advocate serves as an independent voice for seniors, monitoring and advising on a range of senior’s services in British Columbia. The advocate works with seniors and key stakeholders (governments, community agencies, private organizations, and advocacy groups) to identify and understand systemic issues. We are a small office that directly engages with the public on a wide array of services. The Seniors Advocate reports directly to the Minister of Health and delivers recommendations to government and service providers. The Seniors Advocate Act outlines the five key areas under the Seniors Advocate’s mandate: health care, housing, income supports, personal care, and transportation. As an Economic Analyst, you will be part of the Research unit supporting the Office of the Seniors Advocate through the development and delivery of research studies, statistical and economic analyses, and interpretation of data. The eight-member Research team is responsible for all systemic reviews, surveys, and reporting conducted by the Office of the Seniors Advocate. In addition, the team ensures the Seniors Advocate is kept up-to-date with accurate and timely information by identifying and reporting on emerging issues. You will be a core member of the team, providing quantitative expertise to a variety of projects, including ad-hoc requests. Qualifications for this role include: • Bachelor’s degree or higher in economics or closely related field such as statistics, health information science, or mathematics and a minimum of 1-year recent related direct work experience in each of the four areas listed below: o Analyzing complex problems; o Developing and applying statistical/economic modeling and conducting and/or leading projects involving complex statistical/economic analyses; and o Preparing written reports and providing expert advice and recommendations to senior management and executives. Preference may be given to applicants with the following: • Experience with senior’s care issues • Experience working with health care data. • Experience coding in SQL and/or statistical packages such as (but not limited to) R, Stata, and/or SAS. | |
