PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

As the Manager Weld Quality you will manage the scheduling and welding production for Eastern Canada and North East US.

 

 POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Conduct job briefings, end of shift briefings, safety meetings, training activities to ensure safety rules, procedures and policies are being followed through efficiency testing and safety tracking documentation;
  • Correct and document safety incidents, safety hazards/concerns, investigate for corrective actions to the various departments, involving Engineering Manager and Health and Safety Committee in the prescribed timelines;
  • Support, communicate and deliver to key performance indicators. Lead to ensure all direct reports have an understanding of the business objectives, as well as the role they are all accountable for;
  • Monitor Rail Flaw Detection Crews across region and escalate on track production;
  • Participate in weekly meetings to discuss productivity gains and improvements;
  • Maintain communication and foster positive working relationships with local union officials. Ensures the collective agreement is understood and managed as it is written;
  • Supervise employees under collective bargaining agreement;
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED Equivalent;
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in welding qualifications for MIG/ARC/Thermite/Flashbutt;
  • Working knowledge of the welding equipment involved with the various welding procedures;
  • Proficiency with blueprints and ability to develop layout patterns for projects, calculate quantities of materials;
  • GCOR/OTS and CROR Qualifications (US and CA Rules qualified);
  • Have a thorough knowledge of metals, electrodes, welding gases and gas welding filler rods;
  • Ability to recognize defective welds, determine cause, and perform proper repair procedures to the defective area;
  • A safety-oriented work ethic supported by experience within the labour industry;
  • Ability to work cross border in Canada and the US;
  • Ability to travel 80% of time;
  • Ability to work in stressful environments;
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
