Indigenous Cultural Safety Training is delivered jointly by the BC Public Service Agency, Ministry partners and qualified vendor partners. Participation in Indigenous Cultural Safety training is encouraged for all employees within government and is designed to provide participants with what they and their ministries need to know to fulfill government’s commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation Report (TRC) Calls to Action and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP). Indigenous Cultural Safety training is comprised of pre-event work, face to face learning events, post-event learning, and access to online learning resources.

The purpose of this position is to coordinate Indigenous cultural safety learning events and participate as needed as a facilitator and convener in partnership with the Lead, Indigenous Cultural Safety Training. This role encompasses ensuring high quality learning delivery and effective program coordination overall; coordinating and facilitating information sharing and engagement/focus group sessions with Indigenous partners and subject matter experts in a culturally safe manner; and supporting and executing communications and engagement strategies.

Qualifications for this role Include:

• University degree or diploma in a related field (Indigenous studies, social sciences, and conflict resolutions, etc.), or equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Experience implementing the United Nations Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action.
• Recent, within the last 5 years, minimum of 2 years of experience facilitating adult learning to participants at all levels.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience with managing event and program logistics. Preference may be given to applicants with minimum of 3 years of experience with managing event and program logistics.
• Experience providing excellent customer service.
• Due to nature of the position, only people of indigenous heritage who meet the qualifications for the position will be considered.
