Ashbury College is a leading not-for-profit independent day and boarding school for students in Grades 4 to 12 located in Canada's capital and the traditional, unceded territory of the Anishinabe Algonquin Nation. We serve a diverse community of over 60 nationalities from around the National Capital Region, the diplomatic sector and international and domestic boarding students.

Ashbury College is currently seeking a Head of Senior School to lead programs and operations in the Senior School, which consists of 550 students (440 day students and 110 boarding students). As Head of the Senior School, you will work closely with the College's leadership team and Senior School faculty and staff in overseeing the operations of all Senior School programs in Grades 9-12. Reporting to the Head of School, the Head of Senior School acts as the Ontario Principal in ensuring the academic program aligns with the Ontario Ministry of Education and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. Pedagogical leadership in collaboration with the Deputy Head, Teaching and Learning, school scheduling, promoting a collaborative and positive school environment and developing Ashbury's outstanding student experience as aligned with the College's goals are all essential expectations for the position. Knowledge of current and emerging teaching methodologies and technology-enabled teaching models and systems as well as subject matter expertise in at least one academic discipline is required.

As a member of the school's Leadership Team, this position is integral to meeting Ashbury's strategic objectives including and supporting our pluralism goals. The successful candidate will have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, organizational effectiveness, experience with staffing and proactive leadership in upholding standards and expectations within the Senior School. The Head of the Senior School embraces the full life of a day and boarding school and is active in key Senior School and College events.

Your education and qualifications include an advanced degree, a recognized valid teaching licence, and progressive teaching and administrative experience in international, independent and/or public-school systems. Your advanced degrees and administration certification may include M.Ed., Ontario Principal, IB and/or CAIS Certification. Training, skills and/or lived experience related to diversity, equity and inclusion are assets, as is fluency in French and/or other languages. Eligibility for Ontario College of Teachers Certification is required.
