Academic Respirologist 

The Department of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University, and Hamilton Health Sciences invite applicants for an Academic Physician to join the Division of Respirology at the rank of Assistant Professor. The anticipated start date is April 1, 2020.

The applicant’s primary role will be working as an Academic Respirologist. Clinical responsibilities include inpatient respirology consultation, as well as bronchoscopy, and general respirology and asthma clinics. The successful candidate is required to have expertise in the area of investigating and managing Chronic Refractory Cough and must possess a PhD in translational studies investigating the mechanism of cough with significant postdoctoral experience, an outstanding record of research accomplishments, and experience of performing early phase clinical trials in chronic cough.  Excellent publication record and demonstrated teaching/mentoring experience is essential.  Demonstrated potential to attract independent research funding will be considered an asset.

Applicants should be licensed or eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and should be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.   Applicants must have also completed sub-speciality training in Respiratory Medicine and have additional training/education in complex airway disease. The successful candidate will be expected to fully participate in all appropriate departmental and divisional educational activities, and responsibilities.

The successful candidate will be a full time member of the Division of Respirology and research educator, expected to establish and maintain an energetic, cutting edge, externally funded research program, and to contribute to the ongoing graduate and undergraduate education missions at McMaster University.
