An exciting opportunity for a professional forester committed to excellence in sustainable forest management The Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development is the Province’s agency responsible for land and resource management in BC, which includes the protection of the Province’s archaeological and heritage resources. Operating on a provincial land base of over 94 million hectares, the Ministry ensures the sustainable management of forest, wildlife, water and other land based resources; works with Indigenous and rural communities to strengthen and diversify their economies; and, supports activities that provide environmental, economic, cultural and social benefits. The Ministry is responsible for wildfire management and facilitates safe public access to a wide range of recreational activities such as hunting, fishing, and access to BC’s wilderness and backcountry. As a Stewardship Forester, you provide professional advisory services to a program area in the natural resource sector. The primary role of the Stewardship Forester includes: Resource Monitoring, Silviculture Planning and Operations, Strategic Operational Planning, Timber Supply Reviews, Land Based Investment Delivery and Forest Health. Qualifications for this role include: • Registered Professional Forester (RPF), or immediately eligible for registration as an RPF, with the Association of BC Forest Professionals (ABCFP). Note: Immediately eligible is defined as being currently registered as a fully licensed professional in good standing in an applicable jurisdiction and can immediately transfer to the ABCFP as an RPF. Applicants who do not meet the professional requirement may be considered at a lower classification, subject to confirmation of eligibility for registration as a Forester-in-Training with the ABCFP immediately upon employment with the Ministry and can attain RPF status within two years of employment. If applicable, applicants must contact the ABCFP to confirm their eligibility. • Valid BC driver’s licence that does not restrict the applicant from performing the duties of the job (Class 5, 7N, etc.). | |
