There are currently four vacancies with one permanent full-time position in each of the following zone locations: Fraser Fire Zone (Hope or Cultus Lake), South Island Fire Zone (Cobble Hill), Mid-Island Fire Zone (Errington) and Sunshine Coast Fire Zone (Powell River).

Wildfire Technician
$63,446.31 - $72,142.65 annually ($67,728.87 - 77,012.22 annually effective April 9, 2023)

The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) is the Province of BC's primary emergency response organization. It operates year-round to deliver its mandate for wildfire management and response to natural hazard emergencies. The BCWS operates provincially, delivering services through six fire centres, thirty-three zones and two provincial centres in Kamloops and Victoria.

In this position, you will be responsible for performing a core set of functions related to fire response and fire management.

Qualifications for this role include:

- Degree in a field related to forestry, resource management or equivalent knowledge, plus one (1) year related experience, OR
- Technical diploma in a field related to forestry, resource management, or equivalent knowledge, plus three (3) years related experience, OR
- Grade 12 graduation or equivalent, plus five (5) years related experience; OR
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Related experience must include:
- Experience in wildfire operations or other disciplines related to forestry or natural resource management.
- Minimum two (2) years of demonstrated supervisory experience.
