We are hiring a full-time, permanent Manager, Warehousing and Inventory position working out of Edmonton, AB.

The Manager, Warehousing and Inventory is accountable for providing services related to the Warehousing and Inventory Management serving Water Services' ongoing operations. This position manages and oversees operations at Aurum (Stores and Yard), Water Treatment Plants (EL Smith and Rossdale), and Waste Water Treatment Plants (Gold Bar) with a diverse compliment of staff. Additionally, the Manager, Warehousing and Inventory will develop and execute strategies for change management on operational and capital improvement projects. This includes ensuring appropriate governance and risk management, developing processes and controls to support relevant policies, ensuring that services meet operational needs, employing best practices and achieving the required outcomes within the annual and long term plans.

 

What you'd be responsible for

 

  • Participating in the development of the operational plan and the identifying the objectives and priorities of the plan for the upcoming year.
  • Identifying the necessary budget, resources, and staff required to deliver the work plan.
  • Developing, implementing, and reviewing warehouse operations processes, procedures, and work practices to ensure compliance to applicable policies, standards, CSOX, and regulatory requirements.
  • Establishing inventory guidelines, practices and procedures for material replenishment, and optimization that will support the achievement of Supply Chain targets. This includes replenishment parameters, obsolete/surplus review and performance reporting.
  • Preparing and managing the budget requirements for warehousing/ inventory operations, vendor-managed inventory, low-value inventory, and equipment and fleet accessories.
  • Providing variance explanations and tracking of budget versus actual expenses and revenues.
  • Drafting relevant capital justifications and business cases as required.
  • Removing roadblocks and addressing issues or problems related to ensure annual targets can be met.
  • Ensuring that work is completed safely and efficiently.
  • Managing organizational change within the Warehouse and Inventory group and internal customers to introduce technological and business process changes to improve operating efficiency.
  • Creating and developing a capable, committed, and high-performing team. Setting appropriate performance objectives for each employee.
  • Holding employees accountable for achieving results and demonstrating required behaviors.
  • Collaborating and consulting with customers or stakeholders cross functionally to resolve issues or concerns, and create understanding.
  • Assessing Warehousing and Inventory readiness to engage in change efforts, and developing and executing change management plans to promote engagement and mitigate risks.
  • Managing and ensuring the mitigation of Supply Chain Management and other applicable risks within the context of Senior Manager, Supply Chain by ensuring the implementation, and review of appropriate control mechanisms.

 

What's required to be successful

 

  • Undergraduate Degree or a two-year Diploma in Supply Chain Management.
  • Supply Chain Management designation or field relevant to the specific discipline supplemented with equivalent experience would be considered an asset.
  • 5 years of experience in the Supply Chain Industry with emphasis on warehousing and/ or inventory management is preferred.
  • 5+ years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
  • Experience leading in a unionized environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in required software and ERP systems (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Oracle).
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills would be an asset.
  • Proficient knowledge of warehousing operations and inventory best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to delegate tasks, coach for success and hold staff accountable.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change and manage the impact of change for the Warehousing operation.
  • Understanding of Oracle and Enterprise Resource Risk Management systems.
  • Understanding of the utility sector and experience in a regulated business environment.
  • Ability to analyze business unit strategic plans and to create and implement supporting strategies.
  • Ability to align service delivery with the needs of the internal customer groups.
  • Strong financial and business acumen to display keenness and depth of perception or discernment, problem solving, and judgment, especially in practical matters.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; interpersonal/ social skills; and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Analytical skills in Oracle Business Intelligence / Ivara work management systems would be considered an asset.
  • Project management skills would be an asset.
