Water Services, Wastewater Treatment Plant group has opportunities for up to two (2) permanent Tradesman (Dual Trade) to join the Gold Bar Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in Edmonton, AB.

What you'd be responsible for

 

Reporting to the Manager, WWTP Maintenance Process, in the Tradesman (Dual Trade) role you are accountable for, but not limited to:

 

  • Applying investigative techniques to determine equipment & system process failures in order to define scope of work and minimize recurrence and downtime.
  • Installing, repairing and maintaining mechanical processes and pumping equipment.
  • Conducting basic mechanical checks, including inspections of fans, belts, filters and associated equipment.
  • Examining and diagnosing equipment for excessive vibration, temperature and other abnormalities.
  • Interpreting drawings, manufacturer's specifications and other data for the installation and repair of equipment.
  • Creating, using, and maintaining technical history to support the development of job plans and task lists.
  • Installing and maintaining hydraulic, pneumatic and specialty systems including heating, ventilating and air-conditioning equipment, chlorine systems and boilers.
  • Other related duties as required.

 

What's required to be successful

 

Qualifications, experience and behaviours you will possess are:

 

  • Grade 12 diploma (GED or equivalent level of secondary education).
  • Certified Journeyman status as a Millwright. If you have received your certification from outside of Alberta Red Seal Certification will be required.
    • Single Trade Millwright candidates without a second relevant trade certification may be considered with extensive experience only and at a lower classification.
  • Second ticket must be one of the following: Welder, Heavy Duty Mechanic, Pipefitter, Gasfitter, Plumber, Machinist.
  • Minimum of 3 years progressively responsible experience at a Journeyman level in the following:
    • Industrial plant equipment commissioning.
    • Maintenance.
    • Breakdown analysis and repair.
    • Refurbishment and related activities.
  • Strong understanding of Preventative and Predictive Maintenance philosophies.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the repair and maintenance of pumps, motors, actuators and rotating equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, sketches and technical specifications pertaining to the work.
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operators License
    • Ability to qualify for and maintain an EPCOR driver's permit.
    • A Driver Abstract (5yr. Commercial type) may be required if we do not have one on file.
    • Limited to 6 demerits or less.
  • To meet the demands of the position, good physical health is required. Clearance on pre-placement medical and drug and alcohol testing may be required. 
  • Familiarity with the repair and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment equipment is a valuable asset.

Class: 7602 - Tradesman Millwright II/Welder (If not a Millwright/Welder - classification will be determined at the time of selection)

Wage: $57.93 per hour

  • Final Wage and Step will be determined at the time of selection and is based on a combination of factors as outlined in the CA that may be found online.

Hours of work: 40 hours per week
