We are hiring one (1) Full Time, Permanent Line Locator/Field Tech position working out of Aylmer, ON.

 

The Line Locator/Field Technician is accountable for providing project and 3rd party locates with the ENGLP franchise area. This includes completing the locates within 5 days required by law, and all the required paperwork that is required on the job site.

 

What you'd be responsible for

 

  • Providing input to the ENGLP Field Operations Manager and General Manager's plans and directions, and ensure on-going appropriate relationships with other positions.
  • Ensuring the delivery of optimal results against appropriate performance metrics.- including meeting customer expectations, operational effectiveness and efficiency outcomes such a productivity, quality, reliability and on time delivery.
  • Locating utility infrastructure for customers, contractors and project team to ensure safety of excavators and prevent damage, providing reports and/or drawings for locates after completion.
  • Ensuring that all data related to the installation is documented and recorded.
  • Proficiently operate all locating equipment; maintain transmitters and locator equipment to ensure locates are done efficiently and accurately.
  • Inspecting installations by others to ensure compliance with EPCOR's conditions of supply, standard designs and reg. 22/04, and liaise with supervisor, of either South Bruce or Aylmer to review project designs.
  • Working knowledge of Natural Gas Utility Safety Rules and report unsafe practices to Supervisor.
  • Available and able to respond and support Gas Technicians during emergency incidents.
  • Responsible for changing or the installation of new meters at customer's homes.
  • Must be available for standby schedule rotation and able to perform gas technician duties on call.
  • Working in a safe and efficient manner including health and safety legislation/regulations and department policies/procedures/practices.
  • Providing back-up support to other department, as assigned, that are in accordance with job responsibilities and/or necessary departmental or corporate objectives.
  • The Line Locator Field Technician will be able to perform Gas Technician duties as assigned by the ENGLP Field Operations Manager.
  • Demonstrate a high performance, high discipline, safe, accountable, focused, innovative and achievement-oriented, easy to do business with manner of working.

 

 

What's required to be successful

 

  • Grade 12 diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ontario TSSA Gas Technician Certificate G2 or GPI.
  • Valid Ontario Class G Driver's License.
  • Solid understanding or Natural Gas Distribution and/or Gas Systems.
  • Working knowledge of legislation and safety codes related to residential, commercial, industrial natural gas fueled equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to withstand strenuous physical activity inherent to the work performed, as well as to function effectively outside under a variety of weather conditions and through all seasons.
