We are hiring two (2) full-time, permanent Systems Analyst positions working out of Edmonton, AB.

 

EPCOR's Application Services performs operational and project activities for a diverse array of applications including cloud, web, on-premise, and mobile applications, for asset management, and utility operations.

 

These Systems Analysts provides technical expertise for ADMS, drafting and geospatial applications utilized throughout EPCOR used to manage gas, electricity, and water utilities. Your education, experience, customer service, successful teamwork, and expert communication skills will help you creatively and efficiently solve problem tickets and work requests, while properly prioritizing capital project work. These positions reports to the Manager, GIS, ADMS & Data Analytics.

 

This position is eligible for EPCOR's hybrid work program.

What you'd be responsible for

  • Evaluating, designing, documenting, and developing high-quality enhancements to EPCOR applications
  • Communicating openly and using creative analytical skills to resolve operational issues effectively for customers within expected timeframes to meet key performance metrics and service level agreements
  • Ensuring system reliability and availability through dedicated and innovative system monitoring, maintenance and change management
  • Assisting with the completion of Transition to Operations reviews and checklists
  • Overseeing root cause analysis on issues to mitigate and prevent future risk
  • Collaborating with the entire Application Services team to create and maintain dependable, efficient, high-quality solutions
  • Executing daily responsibilities focusing on continuous improvement of processes and systems
  • Participating in capital projects in addition to operational tasks
  • Providing positive contributions to documentation and the team knowledge base allowing for long-term sustainability of EPCOR Information Services through cross training and succession planning
  • Abiding by all Application Services departmental policies and processes

What's required to be successful

  • Successful completion of a Computer Science or Engineering degree or a Computer Engineering/System Technology diploma
  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience
    • Candidates possessing less than the required years of experience may be considered for a developmental position
  • Dedicated technical self-starter driven by continuous learning and innovation
  • Proven intermediate programming experience, and a keen interest in C# or Java development
  • Intermediate proven experience with Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server databases
  • Proven intermediate experience with an ETL tool (ex. FME)
  • Ability to provide quality assurance on estimates, business requirements, application design and programming logic
  • Demonstrated ability to react with urgency to troubleshoot critical issues when faced with application availability situations
  • Previous experience with System Delivery Life Cycle using one or more common programming languages

 

Knowledge of the following would be desirable:

  • Intermediate knowledge and proven ability to administer ESRI software
  • Intermediate knowledge of Linux & Windows Operating Systems and associated troubleshooting
  • Understanding of the ESRI Utility Network, AGOL, and the GeoAnalytics Engine
  • Application development experience within CAD application frameworks (i.e. AutoCAD or Microstation)
  • Knowledge of Oracle Spatial & Graph or Microsoft SQL Spatial
  • Knowledge of business process patterns, data interfaces and functionality of business applications
  • Knowledge of geospatial concepts, change management, and agile principles

Wage: IT2 starting at $53.05 per hour; developmental (IT1) starting at $48.58 per hour  

  • Placement based on qualifications, credentials and experience; final wage and step will be determined at the time of selection and based on a combination of factors as outlined in the Collective Agreement

Hours of work: 75 hours biweekly
