| Education Requirements | • Secondary School; • An apprentice program or equivalent work experience |
| Essential Skills | • Set up and operate a wide variety of machine tools drills and saws; • Set up machines and machine parts according to engineering specifications; • Use a variety of measuring devices such as verniers and micrometers ; • Assess the workspace and work required to ensure the work is performed in the safest manner possible; • Perform other manual machining operations such as tapping, grinding and honing in order to machine the part to acceptable standards; • Safely operate hand tools; • Ensure proper maintenance of machines; • Fit, assemble and install machine components and parts according to specifications using hand and power tools; • Set up and program machine tools for use by machining operators; • Adjust machine components to regulated speeds, pressures, temperatures, dimensions and flow of materials; • Complete equipment inspection reports and maintain inspection records |
