| Synthetic Chemistry - Tenure-Track Assistant Professor - Department of Chemistry, University of Waterloo The Department of Chemistry in the Faculty of Science at the University of Waterloo invites applications from outstanding scholars and researchers for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in any area of Synthetic Chemistry, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025. In exceptional cases, an appointment at a more senior rank will be considered. We are seeking candidates whose research interests will complement existing strengths in the Department (https://uwaterloo.ca/chemistry/). Applicants should have outstanding training and demonstrated excellence in synthetic chemistry. A PhD in Chemistry or an equivalent discipline, as well as postdoctoral experience, is required. Applicants should be creative scientists with a strong commitment to excellence in research, teaching and service. The successful candidate is expected to establish an internationally recognized, independent research group including supervision and mentoring of graduate students. Our interdisciplinary and collaborative department includes 43 faculty, and active, innovative programs shared with other departments in the Faculties of Science, Mathematics, Health and Engineering, as well as other universities around the world. Our faculty are key members of interdisciplinary research centres such as the Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology, the Institute for Polymer Research, the Water Institute, the Interdisciplinary Centre on Climate Change, and the Centre for Bioengineering & Biotechnology. The successful candidate will provide evidence of their potential to develop and deliver introductory and advanced courses in chemistry and related areas in the Department's programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The University of Waterloo is located in the vibrant and friendly two-university Region of Waterloo (population 590,000) in southwestern Ontario, approximately 100 km from Toronto. We are centrally positioned relative to other universities with strong research profiles. The salary range of this position at the Assistant Professor rank is $105,000 to $125,000 per year. Applications received by August 31, 2024 will be given full consideration.
