Premier Quality Genetics, Inc. is in need of Pork Production Technicians

Employment Terms: Full Time - Permanent

Duties And Responsibilities:

• Engaged in all day-to-day operation within the specific area of the swine production unit assigned (i.e. breeding,
farrowing, weaning)
• Monitor pig health, recognize and treat certain livestock health problems and/or report concerns
• Interpret labels, handle and administer medications and vaccines as directed
• Perform piglet processing duties such as tattooing, clipping tails and castrating
• Ensure accurate records are kept including computerized records
• Monitor and set water lines, proper ventilation and temperatures in barns
• Ensure the company's standard protocol and Animal Welfare Codes of Practice is followed by all staff
• Carry out Company’s program to ensure production targets are met
• Follow safe manure management procedure when cleaning out manure pits
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for the animals and employees including power washing as needed
• Selection and load pigs to customers and/or offsite finisher barns
• Reporting safety concerns to the safety representative and/or Unit Manager
• Perform other related duties as required such as general/routine maintenance of facilities.

Working Hours: 9 hours/day, 6:00 AM – 5:00 PM (working hours may vary depending on stage of piglet production), 1.5 varied days off per week, rotating weekend schedule

Benefits: vacation pay (4% of wages) with 3 days sick leave per year after 3 months of probationary employment, Free off-site housing including utilities, No-cost transportation to and from the offsite housing location to the work location

CredentialsRelated certificate/diploma in Agriculture and Livestock Husbandry is an asset but not required
Education RequirementsCompletion of secondary education is required.
Essential Skills- Must have strong interest in the welfare of animals to ensure a happy, healthy and productive herd
- Basic knowledge in computer operation
- Driver's license is required
ExperienceMinimum 1 year experience in handling swine and barn equipment is required
