Our growing Calgary office is looking to add a capable and hardworking Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to our existing team of specialists providing quality service to our land development, municipal and Indigenous clients across Alberta. Municipal engineering and land development are an integral part of our practice at Urban Systems. In this role, you will benefit from the support of industry professionals while working on exciting and challenging projects that make a visible difference in many communities. Assisting in the planning, design, and consultation on several projects, you will be given as much freedom and responsibility as you demonstrate you are able to handle; what you put in, is what you will get out of this opportunity.
In addition to the unmatched learning and project experience you will receive, you can expect to be responsible for the following:

- Honing your civil engineering skills and developing an understanding of best practices in a practical, real world setting of Southern/Central Alberta;
- Applying theory and providing workable solutions related to the implementation of municipal infrastructure including roads, water, sanitary, and drainage infrastructure design and planning;
- Establishing relationships with communities and act as the clients' representative on-site during construction to gather information, conduct inspections, and ensure that designs are built to specifications;
- Providing accurate and timely input and summarize technical reports, plans, studies, proposals, and presentations;
- Assisting project managers with cost estimating, quantity take offs, contract preparation and administration, project coordination, construction management, and report preparation for civil infrastructure related to community development;
- Employing cutting-edge technologies and programs to carry out design and modeling assignments;
- Attending project meetings, collaborating closely with clients, contractors, external consultants, and internal team members whilst listening, communicating, and developing consulting and project documentation skills;
- Exploring creative and sustainable solutions together with our clients to build vibrant communities; and
- Demonstrating a commitment to learning through the ongoing achievement of personal and professional goals.
Salary$75,000.00 - $80,000.00 Per Year
ExperienceThis opportunity is well suited to new graduates from a Civil and/or Environmental Engineering degree program or a Civil/Environmental graduate with 1-3 years of experience and possesses the following skills, strengths, and interests:

- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- You are able to work independently, are a self-starter, but also a strong teammate;

- You communicate proactively, listen to others and enjoy collaborating with people of varying backgrounds and perspectives;
- You are available to travel throughout Southern Alberta for project work, and have a valid class 5 driver's license;
- You have a keen interest and, ideally, work experience in a wide range of civil infrastructure construction and design projects.
