Your Opportunity

One Permanent Full Time Position.

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer who believes in doing things with great efficiency!

In this position you will be providing discipline specific project and technical services for the Capital Power. You will have a focus on the delivery of sustaining capital projects.

You will contribute to our team by

- Project management of sustaining capital and O&M projects.
- Developing estimates and project proposals
- Managing project costs and schedules.
- Providing technical support during project execution
- Designing and engineering of pressure equipment and piping.
- Developing, implementing, and reviewing processes to ensure compliance with policies, standards, regulatory requirements and ensure mitigation of risks.
- Maintaining a thorough understanding of ASME and local codes related to pressure equipment and piping.
- Performing engineering studies and root cause analysis related to Mechanical Engineering.
- Preparing, negotiating, and leading project specific supply and construction contracts.
- Ensuring that assigned projects are evaluated to align with business objectives and provide benefit to the asset.
- Developing viable and cost-effective options to meet technical needs.
- Participating in value engineering studies to improve design solutions.
- Providing technical guidance and solutions to effectively manage production and HSE risks.
- Identifying and managing risk during project execution to ensure minimal or zero impact to cost and schedule.
- Interfacing at many different levels in the company. Building trusted relationships will be required with:
- Plant managers, plant technical staff in identifying needs / work scope.
- Business Development staff in supporting development of new projects and initiatives.
- HSE staff in ensuring solutions are in alignment with HSE standards and risk tolerance.
- Senior management in the explanation and justification of technical decisions.
- End-users of project deliverables.

What you will bring to the role

Education
- Completed Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Professional Engineering Status in Canada.

Experience and Skills
- 5-10 years as a Professional Engineer directly involved in the power generation industry or Heavy Industrial.
- Design and engineering background.
- Demonstrates strong communications skills (written; spoken).
- Solid understanding of Mechanical engineering principles.
- Plant/Field experience preferred.
- Strong ability to communicate detailed technical issues to different areas and levels of the organization.

Working Conditions:
- Hybrid work is available for eligible candidates.
- Up to 10% travel required in this position.
- Occasional site visit and construction coordination.

Additional Details
As this is a safety sensitive position, clearance of a pre-employment drug & alcohol test is required.
