There is currently one (1) permanent, full time position available in Vernon.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
Applicants who do not fully meet the required qualifications may be considered for this position, but at a lower classification.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.

Senior Authorizations Technologist
$69,760.70 - $79,322.69 annually, effective April 7, 2024

The Ministry of Forests delivers land management services for British Columbians. It is responsible for establishing policy and conditions for the province's forest, land, water and natural resources.

The Senior Authorizations Technologist provides expertise and advice for issuing cutting and road permits. They also provide advice in minor forest tenures, appraisals and timber cruising. This role oversees and provides guidance to the work of other technical staff, clients, and contracted resources. The main responsibility for this position is adjudication of cutting permit and road permit submissions.

Qualifications for this role include:
- Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a Registered Forest Technologist (RFT) with Forest Professionals BC (FPBC). Note: immediately eligible for registration is defined as being able to transfer a current membership from an applicable jurisdiction to FPBC within six (6) months of employment. Confirmation of registration/eligibility is required before an offer of employment can be made.
- Diploma in natural resource management or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
- Minimum of two (2) years of related experience working in natural resource management.
- Experience performing technical duties and working with key statutes that support natural resource management.
