The Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Waterloo, invites applications from exceptional scholars and researchers for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor with research interest in Thermal Engineering with an anticipated start date in March 2022. In the case of an exceptional candidate, an appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor will be considered.

The Heat Transfer and Thermal Engineering group is an integral part of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering program, and this creates unique opportunities for multidisciplinary research collaborations. The successful candidate must have a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent discipline. Strong communication skills and a desire to teach heat transfer and thermodynamics at both the graduate and undergraduate levels is required. Evidence of potential for developing an active research program with emphasis on Thermal Engineering is also required. Duties will include developing and maintaining an active and internationally recognized research program and the supervision of graduate and undergraduate students. Applicants whose research activities compliment and strengthen existing strengths within the Heat Transfer and Thermal Engineering Group will be considered favorably including energy and alternative energy systems, combustion and propulsion, and fundamental heat transfer studies.

The salary range for this position at the rank of Assistant Professor is $100,000 to $150,000 CAD. Applications will be accepted until August 31, 2021. The successful applicant is expected to have an engineering license for practice in Canada, or to apply for a Canadian engineering license within the first year of joining the university, and must be registered as a Professional Engineer within 5 years from the start of their appointment.
