| As an Architect with a focus on both Architecture and HPA Impact, you have a unique role of leading HPA Impact as well as guiding our projects. Working under the supervision of Directors and Principals, you will help ensure that designs support the project goals and are executed with Henriquez Partners’ level of standards in mind. Your exceptional communication skills and ability to lead complex projects and design teams enable you to manage multiple projects concurrently. You will maintain an effective liaison with contractors, clients and authorities having jurisdiction. As a leader, you will mentor and communicate the design philosophy and project deliverables to intermediate and junior team members. This is an extraordinary opportunity to play a significant role on some of the most exciting projects in the country and be part of continuing to build an innovative and inspiring culture. You are a seasoned architectural professional with experience in all phases from schematic design to construction administration. The ideal candidate will have experience designing diverse building types with a focus on residential and mixed-use projects that have gone through a rezoning process in Vancouver or Canada. Knowledge and passion for complete community building, including social sustainability as well as environmental sustainability (Passive House, Tall Wood) are essential for this senior level position. Beyond the built form, we have established HPA Impact that aspires to be a catalyst for change in our extended communities. You will help guide projects in the studio to ensure our approach supports the Indigenous ways of planning, the rights of Indigenous people, and how it relates to land development and governance. In addition, HPA Impact champions all our social justice initiatives, seeks opportunities for meaningful dialogue and engagement within our industry and in our communities and helps educate our staff. As the steward of HPA Impact you will drive our practicing reconciliation initiative; act as the liaison between Henriquez and various organizations and Not for Profits; and actively lead HPA Impact initiatives with our staff and community at large – which include Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside and the rebuilding of a village in Nepal, devastated by the 2015 earthquake. | |
| Credentials | Be registered with the AIBC. LEED AP and Passive House certifications are an asset. |
| Education Requirements | Master’s degree in architecture with 8+ years’ experience. Undergraduate degree in Indigenous studies and/or related field an asset. |
| Essential Skills | - Ability to create innovative ideas in collaboration with others and independently. - Superior written and verbal communication skills. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. - Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills. - Proficient with Revit and/or Vectorworks, other BIM tools are an asset. - Proven track record of maintaining high quality standards while working to tight deadlines. |
| Experience | - Relevant lived experience with a broad perspective lens on reconciliation and decolonization preferred. - Recognition and understanding of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s (TRC) Final Report and where possible, delivering on the TRC’s 94 Calls to Action. - Knowledge and expertise in Indigenous inclusion or procurement initiatives that meet regulatory requirements for site specific development projects. - Experience consulting with and establishing reciprocal relationships with First Nations and urban Indigenous communities. |
