Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement. This is a regional position; travel will be required.

Senior Advisor, First Nations Relations
$80,652.20 - $91,992.70 annually $43.17 bi-weekly isolation allowance for Fort St. James and Mackenzie locations

The primary duties of the Senior Advisor, First Nations Relations are centered on conducting consultations for the use of natural resources on Crown land. The advisor determines the impact on First Nations identified or potential traditional use areas.

This role requires a skilled and effective writer and communicator. You will liaise with First Nations on resource applications, work with ministry staff, and act as an expert on the legal and procedural needs of First Nations consultation. It is crucial to take a collaborative approach to establish and maintain productive working relationships with a wide variety of contacts.

Qualifications for this role include:
- Degree related to the natural resource sector, and two (2) years related work experience; OR other related degree and four (4) years related work experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Related experience includes:
- Experience in leading/coordinating consultation or negotiation with First Nations.
- Experience conducting research and analysis related to land use, resource management, social or economic development issues.

Preference may be given to applicants with:
- Experience in policy development and implementation
- Supervisory experience
