Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 3 days at home per week as per the telework agreement.

Regional Hydrogeologist
$77,718.46 - $99,452.15 annually

The Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship is accountable for integrated land and natural resource management, including objective setting for land and marine environments, effectively managing cumulative effects, and advancing reconciliation with Indigenous peoples, environmental sustainability, and economic growth.

The Regional Hydrogeologist is the primary regional groundwater protection expert and leader. This position oversees groundwater science, monitoring, and groundwater protection regulation compliance. This role will also support the Water Authorizations team as a subject matter expert in hydrogeology.

Qualifications for this role include:
- Degree in a related field (e.g., Engineering, Hydrogeology, Geology, Earth Science), or equivalent as accepted by the appropriate professional association and 5 years related work experience.
- Registration or eligible for immediate registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or as a Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC.
- (Note: Immediately eligible is defined as being registered as a professional in another Canadian jurisdiction and able to transfer that membership to a BC professional association within 6 months of employment. It is the responsibility of the applicant to have their qualifications reviewed by the appropriate body to ensure they have the necessary requirements for registration.)
- Experience or specialized training in quantitative hydrogeology.
- Experience conducting groundwater investigations, including aquifer and well characterization, testing assessment and monitoring.
- Experience developing technical solutions, guidelines and standards for aquifer characterization.
- Experience leading or coordinating interdisciplinary projects.
- Experience writing technical reports.
- Experience analysing and interpreting hydrogeological data.
