Benson Industries Ltd. O/a Benson Cabinetry And Millwork is currently hiring six permanent full-time Cabinetmakers for its factory operations in Saanichton, BC. Essential Skills | Study plans, specifications or drawings of articles to be made or prepare specifications, Mark outlines or dimensions of parts on wood, Operate woodworking machines and use hand tools to cut, shape and form parts and components, Trim joints and fit parts and subassemblies together to form a complete unit using glue and clamps and reinforce joints using nails, screws or other fasteners, sand wooden surfaces and apply veneer, stain or polish to finished products, prepare and apply laminated plastics, may estimate amount, type and cost of materials required. |

Work Settings | Fast-paced environment, Manual dexterity, Attention to detail, standing for extended periods and ability to lift from 50 lbs as required, but not ongoing. Workers are exposed to dust and odours that come form working with wood. Some wood finishing products and glues can contain dangerous chemicals and fumes. |
Additional Skills | Instruct apprentices, Operate CADD and other computer software systems, must have good attention to detail, as well as have a good eye for colour and proportion, must have manual dexterity to work with the tools necessary to build cabinets, must be able to read drawings or blueprints required to build a finish product, must be able to do materials calculations to work out dimensions. Other cabinetry related tasks as assigned may include moving, packaging, preparing manufactured items for storage. |
