$56,504.21 - $74,396.51 annually (Growth) plus $35.88 bi-weekly isolation allowance

Important notice to applicants:

This location is currently eligible for a retention incentive which is available to all regular permanent Social Program Officers residing in Hard to Recruit (HTR) designated communities across the province. In addition to the re-imbursement of relocation costs (where applicable), the incentive program provides the following:
• Up to a maximum of $6,000 annual lump sum payment to regular permanent full-time Social Program Officers in the SPO R18 to SPO R30 classifications* OR
• Up to a maximum of $3,000 annual lump sum payment to regular permanent full-time Social Program Officers placed in the SPO Growth Series (SPO Growth to SPO R24 classifications) **

The Ministry of Children and Family Development is offering an opportunity for individuals to make a difference in the lives of Children and Youth with Special Needs in British Columbia.

In your role as a Children and Youth with Special Needs Generalist (CYSN), you may provide a combination of Family Support and guardianship functions. You will convene and facilitate assessment and planning processes with individuals and/or families who have met the CYSN eligibility criteria and determine the supports and services that they require. Coordinating access to the best services available, you collaborate and build relationships with service providers, community partners, contracted agencies and foster parents. From an integrated service delivery system in the Ministry of Children and Family Development you may assist with placements, services for children, liaise and monitor contracts for services and ensure contract compliance and quality/appropriateness of services.

Qualifications for this role include:
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Social Work; OR Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Child and Youth Care; OR
• Master of Education in Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare as defined in the Job Profile attached at the bottom of the posting; OR
• In-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who have a SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA); OR
• Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field or a Bachelor’s Degree with a Major/Honors in a Human Services field PLUS a minimum of two years of recent, obtained in the last five years, *related work experience; OR
• Post Graduate Diploma/Certificate in a Human Services field (from a University or Graduate School) obtained AFTER completion of an unrelated degree PLUS a minimum of two years of recent, obtained in the last five years, *related work experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver’s licence with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province)
