About the Opportunity

We are looking for a capable and enthusiastic Data Visualization Specialist to join our team in Kamloops. You will get to work with many of our practice areas alongside experienced engineers, planners, environmental professionals, communication specialists, landscape architects, GIS professionals, and technologists – all in support of our higher calling of spirit in service for vibrant communities.

The Role

• Research, acquire, interpret, analyze and import data from several different sources to create analytical visualizations;
• Support the continued growth of our data and information management practice by building and maintaining client relationships with municipal and Indigenous communities;
• Connect with and leverage in-house expertise while delivering projects in an interdisciplinary consulting practice;
• Build solutions that help our clients leverage data to support decision making while building a framework that supports their needs;
• Actively contribute to quality assurance and quality control functions to develop and maintain documentation and metadata in line with practice standards and technical design documents; and
• Encourage and drive innovation to shape new ideas, systems and processes aligned with client needs.

About You

The right candidate for this opportunity has 2-5 years of experience in data visualization with relevant post secondary education. Preference will be given to those who have prior experience in consulting, service or in other public facing roles. The following attributes and technical capabilities are beneficial to thrive in this role:

• You are suited to consulting – you actively listen to others, develop and nurture interpersonal relationships, and seek out opportunities to understand key community dynamics working closely alongside clients;
• You are problem solver – you thrive in a self-directed environment, take initiative, and continually work hard to deliver consistent high-quality work, you generate practical solutions in a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment;
• You embrace technology – you have a passion and aptitude to use technology to create solutions, you are a superuser of Tableau and knowledgeable in R or Python, and JavaScript (experience working with SQL, HTML/CSS and other BI platforms is considered an asset but not required);
• Data visualization is your specialty – you have experience creating and maintain tabular information using a variety of software platforms, you develop to import and manage data from source systems, and you design, create, and present dashboards and visualization that simplify complex problems to tell a story; and
• Analytics is your thing – you take complex data and visualize it in a way that supports decision-making, you like to analyze and categorize complex information and determine relationships between sources of information. You see the patterns that form the core message hidden with information.
