The opportunity

TC Energy has an career opportunity for a Project Engineer. In this position you will report directly to the Manager of Facilities Implementation within the Coastal GasLink project organization.

What will you do

  • Work closely with Construction Management Team (CMT), Prime construction contractor, CGL Engineering team and other stakeholders to support construction execution alignment with commercial drivers and scope requirements
  • Draft and facilitate completion of technical project documents including: Scopes of Work, Contemplated Change Notices (CCN's), Change order responses, Request for Quote (RFQ), etc.
  • Draft and facilitate completion of project change management documents including: Management of Change (MOC) narratives, schedule analyses, budget forecasts for elements within the Facilities execution program.
  • Support the Construction Management Team (CMT) as well as the Commissioning and Operations Integration teams to effectively manage turnover of CGL Facilities
  • Monitor implementation of project execution to ensure compliance with regulatory, environmental and other stakeholder requirements;
  • Provide direct support to Project Manager creating deliverables for decisions and milestones
  • Support the Project Manager with development of request for quote packages, capital cost estimates, schedule and risk registers
  • Maintain regular communication with client groups and manage stakeholder and client expectations
  • Provide input into key learnings and commitment to continual improvement of project processes and systems
  • Support the management of site construction emphasizing safety and quality management
  • Opportunity to attend site visits throughout the project and support the Construction Manager on site during construction
  • Support Information Management ensuring records are appropriately tracked and filed
  • Gather and prepare Internal Leave to Open documentation for technical review
  • Maintain project quality objectives by documenting non-conformances (NCR), opportunities for improvement (OFI), lessons learned and assisting quality audits

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, concentration in mechanical, electrical, civil or chemical preferred
  • Eligible to register with APEGA
  • Minimum 4 to 6 years of relevant experience is required
  • Previous onsite construction experience, including turnover to operations is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Canada gas compressor station operations, design, regulations, design standards and specifications is considered an asset.

Preferred Qualitifcations

  • Proven analytical skills and critical thinking skills with the ability to research, gather, analyze and synthesize multiple sources of information (technical, contractual, regulatory, etc.)
  • Ability to manage, prioritize and effectively handle multiple and competing demands and tasks
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision and direction
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, with strong networking/relationship-building capabilities
  • Technical proficiency with Electrical, Instrumental and Controls discipline is considered an asset
  • Commitment to health, safety, environment and quality
  • Strong team orientation, demonstrating a high level of cooperation

This position requires candidates to:

  • have and maintain a valid Driver's License
  • provide a Driver's Abstract for review
  • occasionally travel as may be required [expectation approx. 1 trip of 3-4 days per month]
