PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Supervisor Design will be responsible for designing civil/track related projects in Civil 3D.  This individual will also be responsible for conducting technical reviews of drawing sets submitted to ensure compliance to CP, AREMA, Transport Canada specifications and standards.

 

 POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Prepare and review track and civil road bed drawings and specifications for railway track related projects, in accordance with appropriate technical, safety, CP business and regulatory requirements;
  • Utilize designs created to conduct material take-offs for track construction but as well as estimate quantities relating to civil component of the work;
  • Conduct review of material documents, shop drawings, plans and product specifications based on detailed design drawings and specifications and provide pin-pointed feedback on deficiencies in relations to not meeting prescribed standards or CP requirements;
  • Assist in the development of new standard designs and drawings for track design, maintenance and construction;
  • Maintain the system files for design briefs and assists with maintenance of system archive of drawings.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Post-Secondary Civil Technologist diploma or minimum 5 years’ equivalent industry experience;
  • Proficient use of Civil 3D;
  • Proficient in use of Bluebeam REVU;
  • Background knowledge of surveying and application;
  • Familiarity with AREMA Standards for Class 1 Railways;
  • Ability to navigate and utilize SAP;
  • Experience and ability to utilize Microsoft Office suite of applications;
  • Strong geometric analytics;
  • Strong communicator across internal Engineering functions.

Management Conductor Program:
