Duties: Reporting to the Manager of Counselling and Accessibility Services, and as a member of the CAS team located at the Notre Dame Campus and Exchange District Campus, the Counsellor is responsible for providing personal counselling to current students and developing academic accommodation plans with current and prospective students with disabilities at Red River College. The incumbent will perform case management functions working with students to optimize success in College programs which include providing counselling, crisis intervention and crisis management; developing, communicating and monitoring accommodation plans for students with disabilities; referring students for academic and psychological assessment as required; ensuring advocacy and support to students; referring to mental health services in the community. The incumbent is expected to attend meetings and case consultations; work collaboratively and in cooperation with other Counsellors, Student Support Services personnel, College faculty, external agencies, other educational institutions; and develop and deliver relevant workshops and short courses to both students and faculty. The hours of work for this position may range between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and the incumbent may be expected to work at either or both the Notre Dame and Exchange District Campus locations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counselling Psychology or other related discipline; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Several years of experience in a counselling environment, including case management responsibilities
- Experience in personal counselling, provision of mental health services and crisis intervention
- Knowledge and familiarity with the Canadian Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics or other applicable Professional Association
- Experience developing and delivering relevant workshops
- Excellent communication skills
- Exceptional written skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with RRC staff/faculty and external agencies
- Ability to react appropriately in stressful situations
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working in or closely with a post-secondary educational setting

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
- This position may be required to work overtime
- Incumbent must provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Records Check, including a Vulnerable Persons Sector Check
- Incumbent must provide a current and satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check
- May be required to work at various RRC campuses
- Membership in a relevant professional association, or eligibility to acquire
