| Terms: Permanent, Full Time Vacancies: 1 Job Duties: -Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements -Determine the amount and type of materials required for a given task or project -Work with the foreman in preparing layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools -Ensure that all required materials and supplies are on site. -When necessary, visit local suppliers to pick up materials and supplies. -Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials for a specific project -Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems -Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, molding, and hardware -Maintain, repair, and renovate residences assigned by the manager -Supervise apprentices and other construction workers in carrying out a project as per specifications and targeted completion date -Assist in preparing cost estimates for projects/renovations received -Clearly communicate with Project Managers and clients, verbally and written as required. -Ensure job site security. -Have up-to-date knowledge of Ontario Ministry of Labour job site safety procedures and ensure the job site meets specifications. -Must have a reliable vehicle for transportation to job sites. -Portfolio of work a plus.
