Course Description:

This course is part of our Graduate Diploma in Community Engaged Research and Evaluation. It involves a) a research experience in a community agency and b) participation in a seminar designed to support and foster reflection on the research experience. The course builds on the research / evaluation proposals students develop in SOC SCI 708 (Critical Approaches to Community-Based Research) / SOC WORK 743 (Critical Approaches to Evidence and Evaluation in Social Services and Communities). Supported by seminar discussion and readings students will further develop their proposals and carry out the projects in dialogue and collaboration with agency representatives, service users and community members.

Required Qualifications:

MSW or other graduate degree in a related discipline; extensive community-engaged research experience; knowledge of academic and community research partnerships; experience in social services and / or in community-based organizations and commitment to the School's philosophical approach to social work. Previous experience in teaching in the subject area is an asset.
