Course Description:

This course analyzes the Canadian child welfare system, its policies and programs and teaches skills for working with children, families and substitute caregivers. Specific attention on collaborative approaches and considerations for child welfare practice with a diverse spectrum of service users including Indigenous, Black and other overrepresented populations.

Lectures, discussions, skills development; one term

Required Qualifications:

MSW required, PhD preferred.  Experience in direct practice in the subject area and commitment to the School’s philosophical approach to social work. 

Practice, teaching, and research experience in the field of child welfare would be an asset.
