Assistant Professor, Global Health Lead Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario invites applications for 1 (one) geographic full- time position in the contractually limited category, for an academic General Obstetrician/Gynecologist with appropriate experience. The successful candidate will join the staff at McMaster University Medical Centre. The current complement of generalists at McMaster University Medical Centre offer care in Obstetrics and Gynecology for the City of Hamilton and the Ontario Health West Region (Waterloo Wellington, Hamilton Niagara, Haldimand and Brant) covering an area that supports up to 30,000 deliveries per year.

This position will oversee Global Health (GH) activities within the department and provide visionary leadership in cultivating and advancing the department’s GH initiatives. The successful candidate will oversee and coordinate the development of a graduate level Global Surgery curriculum. Special consideration will be given to candidates with additional postgraduate training beyond a residency program, such as fellowship, masters, or other advanced degree.

The successful candidate is expected to have experience and commitment to advising and providing mentorship to medical students and residents -internally and external to McMaster University -and be interested in a career in Ob/Gyn and GH/Global Surgery.

The candidate will be expected to fully participate in all of the appropriate departmental and divisional administrative and educational activities. Candidates must have demonstrated capability and interest in clinical research and show evidence of a history of research productivity to align with the departmental academic mission and vision.

This is a full-time faculty position in the contractually limited appointment category, for a period of three years (renewable). Applicants should be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and must be licensed  in the Province of Ontario. Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Salary is composed of, largely, fee-for-service activities.
