The opportunity

Our Enterprise IT Services (EITS) Canada team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business and we are expanding our presence in Calgary, Alberta to support our Information Services department.

We are seeking a self-motivated and ambitious Business Analyst who has knowledge and experience in analyzing and developing business requirements and process designs to assist in enabling clients to achieve business strategies more effectively. This individual has the proven skills, competencies and capacity to coordinate several operational projects and initiatives at the same time while working with internal and external stakeholders directly. You will be partnering with and supporting our Strategic Business Analysts to build out future state business capability roadmaps that identify opportunities to maximize the generation of value in growing and transforming business capabilities for the Environment, Health and Safety department at TC Energy.

What you’ll do

  • Work closely with Health, Safety & Emergency Management business partners (Safety, Health & Industrial Hygiene, Emergency Management, and Safety Excellence) to determine business requirements and collaborate to identify appropriate solutions to meet the business need
  • Prepare and maintain relevant documentation (e.g. requirements documents, functional specifications, training materials)
  • Execute operational enhancements and contribute to projects
  • Provide progress feedback on enhancements and projects
  • Perform and coordinate unit, integration and acceptance tests
  • Collaborate with the Development Team members in the design and testing of interfaces, enhancements, reports and data conversions in the Development & Quality Assurance systems and implement them in Production
  • Deliver application configuration and product knowledge to help support business and project objectives
  • Engage with development teams, security, reporting, master data, projects and change management teams
  • Where required, provide tier 3 level support and guidance for SAP and related applications
  • Coordinate incidents to resolution through the ServiceNow application
  • Other tasks as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Computer Science or related discipline is required
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience is required within the area of Environment, Health and Safety Management
  • Intermediate experience and proficiency with various business software applications (SAP, Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, MS Office Suite, Visio, Power BI)
  • Experience in gathering business requirements and in business process mapping
  • Strong process and systems thinker who understands interdependencies and can design and refine solutions with these in mind with demonstrated success in problem identification and resolution
  • Demonstrated ability to identify the current state situation, design the future state, and manage any gaps in solution delivery
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, growth-orientated environment where change occurs continuously
  • Effective relationship building with team members, business partners, external vendors, and key stakeholders
  • Excellent time management skills to balance competing priorities
  • Motivated problem solver who is able to work efficiently and effectively under minimal supervision
  • Ability to effectively communicate to all levels of personnel; from field/operations through to Corporate management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Functional experience in supporting and configuring SAP EHSM module is preferred
  • Knowledge of integration to other SAP functional modules (QM and PM) is preferred
  • Energy industry SAP implementation is preferred
  • Understanding and working knowledge of database relationships and the set-up Client/Server applications is considered is considered a strong asset
  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma is considered an asset
  • Experience and demonstrated acumen with a keen interest for the energy industry and TC Energy’s operations
  • Detail-oriented with strong organization and prioritization skills
  • Strong conflict management and issue resolution skills
  • Demonstrates a positive and professional attitude
