Reporting to the Paving Superintendent, the Paving Crew Lead Hand is responsible for managing the work crew, operators, and equipment, in a safe and profitable manner; meet the commitments of construction contracts/agreements, while providing overall on-site leadership to designated construction project site. What is the role? Manage the work crew, operators, and equipment, in a profitable and safe manner to meet the commitments of contracts/agreements. Provide overall on-site leadership on the construction project site. Train or arrange for training. Supervise workers (Heavy equipment operators, raker men, other paving crew workers). Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity. Recommend personnel actions. Ensure health and safety regulations are followed. Co-ordinate activities. Experience | Minimum 3 years of relevant experience. Experience with asphalt and City of Edmonton specs and procedures. Ability to read and understand civil blueprints and drawings. Ability to directly supervise and maintain organization of crew members and resources. Ability to work in any weather/work conditions and in a physically demanding environment (Up to 50lbs). Experienced with the proper setup, operation and maintenance of Topcon grade and slope automatic systems. Experienced with different types of roller patterns for various mix designs to achieve desired densities. Able to make a cutoff for tonnage. Team player, reliable, attention to details and organized. Minimum Class 5 Driver's License. |
