Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development This position can be located in Burns Lake or Smithers, B.C. Stewardship / First Nation Forester The Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development has a mandate to manage specified Crown land and resources in a manner that embraces the economic, environmental and social goals of government. The role of the Stewardship / First Nation Forester is to provide senior professional services, including providing direction to the stewardship team, and providing recommendations for decision makers within a natural resource program area. The primary role of the Stewardship / First Nation Forester includes: Leading implementation of government to government First Nations agreements, as well as assisting with Resource Monitoring, Silviculture, Timber Supply Review, Strategic and Operational Planning, Land Base Investments and Forest Health. Explore the opportunities and value working with our team can offer you: Why work for Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development Qualifications for this role include: • Degree in the natural resource field or equivalent as recognized by the relevant association. • Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, with the British Columbia professional association as required by the specialty area (i.e., Association of Forest Professionals, Institute of Agrologists, Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of the Province of British Columbia. Note: immediately eligible for registration is defined as being able to transfer a current membership from an applicable jurisdiction. Applicants must confirm their eligibility with the appropriate BC association (ABCFP, APEGBC, BCIA). Confirmation of registration/eligibility will be required before an offer of employment can be made. • Experience in participating in consultations/negotiations with First Nations. • Experience conducting research and analysis related to land use, resource management, social or economic development issues. • Experience in policy development and implementation. | |
Salary | $68,008.54 - $85,592.73 annually; there is a $35.88 bi-weekly isolation allowance for the Burns Lake location and a $32.89 bi-weekly isolation allowance for Smithers |
