The Opportunity

The Legal Innovation Zone is the world's first dedicated legal tech incubator, with a focus on building better legal solutions for the consumers of legal services. The LIZ helps support, foster and develop solutions and techniques to improve legal services and the justice system.

The Director is an entrepreneurial self-starting builder interested in supporting the work of others.  Focussed on the future.  Relentless in their pursuit of success. They are responsible for the development, implementation and general management of the Legal Innovation Zone (LIZ), under the direction of the Managing Director. The Director takes the lead in the development and implementation of strategic planning, outreach and fundraising initiatives for the LIZ.  They also ensure the service quality, program delivery, excellence, and managerial and financial functions, and are responsible for establishing and maintaining partnerships and collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders.
 

Qualifications

To help us learn more about you, please provide a cover letter and resume describing how you meet the following required qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a university degree.  At least 5 years of relevant experience in one or more for the following areas is required: building a startup, supporting startups administration, stakeholder management,  program development, marketing and communication.
  • Demonstrated experience and success in identifying and developing specific programming and initiatives, including researching and sourcing of resources, pursuing networking opportunities with potential program partners, creating strategic linkages, defining program standards and implementing program agreements.
  • Strong strategic planning in developing short, medium and long term goals and objectives, and developing appropriate budgets and programs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build and establish relationships with internal and external stakeholders, that will position the Legal Innovation Zone in a leadership role within the broader community.
  • Solid operations management experience to oversee day-to-day activities, programs, initiatives and people, including resource planning,financial and budget planning, monitoring and evaluating performance.
  • Demonstrated experience in fundraising and financial responsibilities, including preparing necessary funding proposals and negotiating terms of proposals with funders and relevant agencies.
  • Strong marketing and communication experience in promoting programs that cultivate and build ongoing relationships and potential collaboration with professional external organizations.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and with minimal direction in a fast-paced environment.
