Description

All positions are in Fort McMurray. Shift work is a requirement with 14 on 7 off, 12+ hours per shift (days and nights). You are responsible for your housing in Fort McMurray and travel. Transportation from town to site is provided.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform a wide variety of jobs using basic construction skills and/or operating some power equipment
  • Drive on mining roads and around haul trucks
  • Clean, prepare and maintain construction equipment and components
  • Feed conveyors, crushers and other equipment
  • Learn new skills every day and clean industrial materials from screen tanks using specialty tools
  • Open valves and start pumps; sort, stack, bundle and stamp materials
  • Transport raw materials, finished products, scrap and recyclable materials throughout plant manually or using forklift or other powered equipment
  • Complete FLHAs, site permit requirements and follow safe work procedures
  • Maintain a clean work area and equipment at all times
  • Work as part of a team and follow direction from supervision
  • You work hard - you're put to the test physically every day with labour intensive tasks

Experience

  • 2+ years of labour experience in an industrial environment
  • Class 5 valid driver's license (GDL is not accepted) with no more than 5 demerits in last 2 years
  • Valid ECS CSO certification (or combination of CSTS-09 and OSSA Regional or BSO)
  • We have great training and your ability to read and write will ensure you meet the testing requirements
  • Previous experience around or operating heavy equipment, skid steers or small loaders is an asset
  • MED or Pleasure Craft License would be considered an asset
  • Able to provide a negative result on a pre-employment drug and alcohol test

Skills

  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Able to perform physically demanding work including climbing multiple flights of stairs and carrying equipment (able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis)
  • You are safety focused when it comes to people and equipment
  • Able to work shift work (days/nights) for 12+ hours not including the travel time to site
  • Able to work on and around open bodies of water
  • Able to work outdoors in harsh weather conditions
  • Participate and pass all training courses required by CEDA which require some computer literacy
  • You're happiest working in a team, sharing a laugh with your coworkers and getting the job done safely
