Rogers is investing in our service expansion plans and will be growing our Network team to support a number of initiatives to extend our network reach to more costumers and businesses nationally. This position, reporting to the Manager, Access Network Expansion, will deliver against Service Expansion Plans for rural and underserved communities as well as out of footprint greenfield projects.
 
Responsibilities:  

  • Complete modelling & analysis of fibre to the home expansion opportunities, in accordance with established policies, engineering & construction standards & specifications. Propose waivers as required.
  • Leverage fibre modeling and planning tools.
  • Leverage existing fibre network assets, new technology & construction methods.
  • Complete feasibility assessments of service expansion & expanded greenfield opportunities.
  • Liaise with OPE Planners & GIS specialists to update models and feasibility assessments with survey & preliminary engineering results from D&B engagements.
  • Collaborate with the Delivery Manager, Regions and cross functional Service Expansion teams to deliver on the company’s Service Expansion objectives.
  • Work closely with the Delivery Manager to highlight and mitigate risks and report on progress.
  • Provide input on business case in preparation of submission.

  • Complete network expansion opportunity bid submissions as tasked by the Manager, Access Network Expansions.
  • Support completion of cross functional CA’s as required.
  • Support preparation of budgets, bids, and contracts.
  • Ensure completion of Engineering planning & design specifications for successful bid awards.
  • Provide engineering support for implementation of successful bids. Offer technical assistance with analysis on fibre optic network design, topology layout, fiber splice plans, cable duct and routing.


Qualifications:

  • Strong communication, analytical and methodical troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills and the ability to present and inform technology ideas and principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, in an organized, methodical and pleasant manner. Ability to work from assigned objectives, relative priorities and critical areas that impinge on work of other units.
  • Ability to assist on technical problems and review work for technical accuracy and adequacy.
  • Strong understanding of designing & building PON/HFC networks and systems. Well versed on industry & Rogers standards, OPE, and construction methods.
  • Education, experience should include undergraduate university degree, community college diploma with CET certification or equivalent experience.
  • 8 years’ experience in planning and designing Fibre optic networks.
