SCOPE:

\r\n

\r\n

 The Desktop Support Technician will provide both onsite and remote computer and VoIP telephone support for ONWA staff across Ontario.  The Desktop Support Technician will work with our network management team to discuss the need for network changes and the feasibility of projects recommended by network users. The Desktop Support Technician is also required to monitor technology trends and makes recommendations on incorporating new technology into the company's existing platforms.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

\r\n

    \r\n
  • \r\n
    \n Post-secondary diploma/degree in IT-related field.\n
    \r\n
  • \r\n
  • 1+ years of experience in a technical support role.
  • \r\n
  • Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft, Cisco, and CompTIA are preferred, but not required.
  • \r\n
  • Working knowledge and expertise with a variety of software, hardware and applications.
  • \r\n
  • Willingness to solve complicated problems and see projects through to completion.
  • \r\n
  • Analytical skills to study problems and records and identify solutions.
  • \r\n
  • Team-oriented attitude to help other colleagues and departments with technical problems.
  • \r\n
  • Must be dependable, able to follow instructions, respond to management direction and be able to improve performance through management feedback.
  • \r\n
  • Capacity to solve problems and to see different perspectives.
  • \r\n
  • Ability to plan, organize and manage time effectively.
  • \r\n
  • Highly motivated individual with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • \r\n
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills and an ability to follow through on assigned duties independently with strict deadlines.

  • Knowledge of Not-For Profit Organizations

  • Ability to travel.
  • \r\n
  • Reliable vehicle, appropriate vehicle insurance coverage and valid Ontario "G" class driver's license.

  • Current, valid vulnerable sector criminal records check.
  • \r\n
  • Knowledge of Indigenous Culture, Traditions, and Indigenous Community
  • \r\n
  • Ability to speak an Indigenous Language is considered an asset.
  • \r\n
  • Cultural competency:

  • \no Experience working with Indigenous organizations an asset\n
  • \r\n
  • \no Experience working with Indigenous communities with a working knowledge of Indigenous cultures and traditions. \n

RESPONSIBILITIES-SPECIFIC:

  1. Logging and processing support requests.
  2. \r\n
  3. Installing and configuring computer hardware, software, VoIP phones, printers and scanners.
  4. \r\n
  5. Investigating, diagnosing and solving computer software and hardware faults.
  6. \r\n
  7. Identify, log and resolve technical problems with software applications or network systems.
  8. \r\n
  9. Repairing and replacing equipment as necessary.
  10. \r\n
  11. Planning and undertaking scheduled maintenance upgrades.
  12. \r\n
  13. Setting up accounts for staff and ensuring they know how to log in.
  14. \r\n
  15. Maintaining records of software licenses.
  16. \r\n
  17. Managing stocks of equipment, consumables and other supplies.
  18. \r\n
  19. Provides advice and guidance to colleagues regarding incidents.
  20. \r\n
  21. Identify potential changes and system improvements to present to senior team leaders for consideration and implementation.
  22. \r\n
  23. Create, maintain, and distribute reports of progress to senior leadership.
  24. \r\n
  25. Explain and document technical issues in a clear way to staff.
  26. \r\n
  27. Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks.
  28. \r\n
  29. Responding in a timely manner to service issues and requests.
  30. \r\n
  31. Setting up accounts for new users.
  32. \r\n
  33. Testing new technology.
  34. \r\n
  35. Travel when required.
  36. \r\n
  37. Training staff.
  38. \r\n

RESPONSIBILITIES - ADMINISTRATIVE:

  1. Complete monthly reports and submit to supervisor when required
  2. \r\n
  3. Complete quarterly reports on or before the requested due date.
  4. \r\n
  5. Complete reports to funders as required.
  6. \r\n
  7. Complete and attend supervisions on a regular basis
  8. \r\n
  9. Other reports or admin as assigned
  10. \r\n
\r\n
