Duties: Red River College is seeking an Applied Research Chair in Sustainable Construction to lead, grow and support applied research within the School of Skilled Trades and Technologies (SSTT), including SSTT-related activities within the Centre for Applied Research in Sustainable Infrastructure (CARSI) and the Building Envelope Technology Access Centre (BETAC).
The Applied Research Chair will contribute significantly by connecting applied research with student learning in the SSTT, while helping the construction community to develop innovative processes, technologies and applications to reduce costs, boost productivity and create more sustainable infrastructure.

The incumbent will be responsible for leading school-based applied research activities and will develop new strategic and client-supported applied research programs and projects, with a primary focus on sustainable construction. Responsibilities will include proposal development (including seeking and securing funding), interaction with clients/partners, negotiation of agreements, research project management and technology diffusion and transfer to industry and other community members - including outreach to build regional clusters to help the local community develop innovative processes, technologies and applications.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree in a related field. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
- Experience in performing and/or leading research and experimental development activities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Project management experience
- Knowledge of intellectual property and knowledge translation practices
- Ability to develop and lead an applied research strategy and enterprise
- Experience with developing proposals and manage/administer applied research grants and contracts
- Manage and/or oversee research-related financial accounts, activities and deliverables
- Ability to prepare and maintain appropriate applied research records and reports
- Establish and/or strengthen applied research partnerships and networks within the community, especially with the private sector, as well as research-based organizations
- Ability to develop and lead a proactive applied research outreach program; including internal (College) audiences
- Work independently to meet corporate objectives and research program and project goals, report regularly to the Dean and seek guidance on college policy matters, as required
- Significant experience with Microsoft Office applications

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working in a post-secondary institution
- Experience with provincial and federal applied research funding programs for colleges
- Eligible for professional registration with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba and/or Certified Technicians and Technologists Association of Manitoba

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
- This position may be required to travel
- Incumbent must provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Records Check
