The Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science (FEAS) at Ryerson University invites applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty position in Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the rank of Assistant Professor to commence July 1, 2020. The position will be based in one of the following Departments: Aerospace Engineering; Chemical Engineering; Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering; and Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. The position is subject to final budgetary approval.

Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science (FEAS) is home to 26 programs in 11 disciplines, 6100+ undergraduate and graduate students, 250+ active research partnerships and 6 research and innovation clusters. FEAS offers a Master of Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship (MEIE) program. The MEIE program is designed to deliver learning through practices of actionable theory, which focus on the process, as well as the outcome. Following the “Lean Startup” methodology, the MEIE program fosters students’ ability to think creatively in their quest to develop innovative products and services, and provide real value to users using sound engineering practices. In addition, students work side-by-side with world leading industrial partners, start-ups and a vast venture capital community to accelerate their ideas.

Education RequirementsQualifications
Candidates must have a PhD in Aerospace, Chemical, Electrical, Computer, Biomedical, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline. In addition, the successful candidate must present evidence of:
• a strong expertise in entrepreneurship, strategy and/or management;
• a strong ability in graduate and undergraduate course development and teaching including the ability to effectively teach key fundamental and applied courses in engineering innovation and entrepreneurship and in the home department discipline;
• experience mentoring technology-focused startups;
• a strong research profile (e.g., evidence of an emerging scholarly record, ability to establish and maintain an independent, externally funded research program);
• research collaborations or strong potential/ability to attract industrial collaborative initiatives;
• commitment to our values of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion as it pertains to service, teaching, and scholarly research or creative activities, including a demonstrated ability to make learning accessible and inclusive for a diverse student population; and
• an ability to contribute to the life of the Department, Faculty and the University through collaboration and collegial service.
Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) registration in the province of Ontario (or eligibility to register) is a necessary condition for appointment. Please clearly indicate your status or eligibility.

Working with interdisciplinary teams of established engineering scholars and entrepreneurship experts, the candidate will contribute to research, curriculum development and program delivery in the Master of Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship (MEIE) program. The incumbent’s primary teaching responsibilities will be in the MEIE program along with teaching responsibilities in their home department.
