JOB POSTING: Live Broadcast Engineer June 3, 2024 Nunavut Independent Television Network (NITV) is looking for a Live Broadcast Engineer to work for Uvagut TV. This position is best suited to someone with a general knowledge of video production and comfort using web-based broadcast platforms. The Live Broadcast Engineer is responsible for managing the live broadcast infrastructure, including web services to streaming and studio equipment, as well as training and supporting broadcast staff. Experience with online live streaming, video blogging, and video production is a primary asset, including experience with live casting software such as LiveU Studio, OBS Studio, vMix, Wirecast, etc., as well as experience using Adobe Premiere Pro, Davinci Resolve, or similar software is an asset. We are looking for someone with strong ideas, both organizational and creative, to grow our live productions. Must have the ability to be flexible with hours and able to work in evenings and occasionally on weekends. Training is provided so candidates with limited amounts of experience are encouraged to apply.

Duties This is a managerial position with a mix of coordination, technical and training duties, such as:
- overall management of all Uvagut live productions
- provide support and training with broadcast equipment (cameras, audio), especially online streaming studio
- plan shows in collaboration with show hosts
- professionalize live show production and format
- work closely with live production teams, advising on camera and microphone set up, as well as lighting and staging when needed
- following up with production team, ensuring release forms and invoices are filled out
- coordinate and schedule tech staff (camera people, online studio operators, etc.)
- prepare to broadcast any additional media for the show (pre-recorded video, audio, images, etc.)
- manage technical tests and rehearsals
- occasionally create simple graphics to appear on screen during special events
- light editing and uploading of all live shows to the Uvagut server
- working with the live production team to decide on purchases of new equipment, considering the budget for each show

Job Details
- Full time positions at 37.5 hrs per week, with a flexible schedule.
- Pay commensurate with qualifications starting at $35/hr.
- Anyone is able to apply, however there is a preference for Inuit and Indigenous applicants.
- This is open to applicates located anywhere in Canada.

NITV (Nunavut Independent Television Network) is a non-profit media arts organization based in Nunavut. Since 1991, NITV has been dedicated to the preservation of Inuit language and culture. To achieve this mandate, NITV has a history of supporting the creation and dissemination of original Inuktitut programming. Over the 30+ year history NITV has evolved and found different ways to increase access to Inuit content, which has led to the launch of Uvagut TV, Canada's first 24/7 Inuktut television channel in 2021.
