ABOUT YOUR ROLE
We are looking for a Manager, Natural Resources Investments ("NR") who will be closely involved in the development and investment management of the NR portfolio (C$15.2 billion in net assets under management as of March 31, 2024), through his/her involvement in the execution and monitoring of direct investments and strategic partnerships in the global natural resources sector. The person hired will be directly involved and responsible for activities related to deal sourcing, investment selection, financial analysis, sector analysis, transaction due diligence and asset management of portfolio companies. The Manager will participate in the investment decision-making process, the preparation of investment recommendation memoranda, as well as the research of industry trends within a dynamic and industry-leading group.

As a Manager, Natural Resources Investments, you'll:

Lead investment analysis and execution of transactions
- Screen and analyze investment opportunities, identify key investment merits and risks, and actively contribute to developing an investment thesis
- Supervise financial modeling, lead various analyses, and coordinate business due diligence alongside industry experts
- Perform in-depth due diligence of potential investments, coordinate advisors and workstreams, meet with management teams, industry experts, and review documentation
- Coordinate closely with internal business partners and advisors including operational, ESG, legal, and tax matters
- Draft presentation materials and prepare investment recommendation memorandums for approval by internal committees
- Participate in investment recommendation presentations to various internal committees and PSP's Board of Directors as required
Actively participate in NR Group's growth and value creation process
- Meet with prospective partners and industry experts
- Perform active networking with experts, consultants, peers and other industry players
- Support the growth and development of the group's analysts and associates
- Attend conferences, organize meetings and keep abreast of industry and sector trends
- Interact with management and operating partners. Coordinate monthly update calls and pipeline meetings with portfolio companies
- Review board and budget materials of portfolio companies as well as make recommendations as required
- Participate in portfolio company board meetings and/or other advisory committees

WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- Bachelor's degree in business, Finance or related fields; Graduate degree or MBA an asset
- Professional designation: CFA an asset
- Minimum of six (6) years of experience in private investments, investment banking, consulting, corporate finance, equity research, or in a natural resources company
- Interest in the agriculture, more specifically in timberland, and critical minerals sectors; prior knowledge in natural resources an asset
- Excellent financial and analytical skills; superior proficiency with business software and analytical tools
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Project management skills and ability to meet tight deadlines
- Good attention to detail and presentation of information
- Ability to demonstrate leadership and sound business judgement
- Experience working on private investments in Australasia and/or Europe will be considered an asset
- Good communications skills in English and French (or willingness to learn) *Regular interactions in English with investment partners based outside of Quebec Example: peers, bankers, brokerage firms, etc. and PSP employees in our offices in Hong Kong, London and New York, and interactions in French with employees in our local offices in Montreal and Ottawa.
