PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

As the Project Manager you will oversee the Project Management services to the various entities and subsidiaries for CP in for the assigned region, for all leased and owned sites.  You will develop and deliver the overall design of the project and to track and update budgets and schedules throughout the course of a project to ensure that it is completed on time and within budgets established and approved.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Supervise, counsel and coordinate professional consultants in areas related to design and planning of facilities, project and construction management, cost estimating, project scheduling, contracts, construction and reconciliation of budgets;
  • Review the performance of consultants and contractors to verify that quality, cost and schedule objectives are maintained;
  • Prepare and review project cost estimates for appropriation of funds relating to facilities (estimates may range up to $10M);
  • Negotiate with the construction manager, contractors, suppliers and consultants to ensure the Company derives maximum benefits from its expenditures;
  • Ensure a proper liaison and working relationship the Historic Sites and Monuments Board with respect to projects in Company owned Heritage Buildings as well as with municipal and government code and transport authorities with respect to any issues to be resolved;
  • Ensure that CP safety requirements are adhered to on all sites;
  • Manage electrical projects on a day to day basis to ensure completion within schedule and budget.
  • Ensure any related environmental issues are dealt with according to company mandated policies and local codes, as they relate to projects
  • Prepare budget requirements for current and four year planning;
  • Establish work priorities, sets objectives, appraises the performance of indirect subordinates and ensures that they follow the process for all project.;
  • Responsible for all Solar and Energy Management projects in determining feasibility and project execution.
  • Accountable for the facility generator and UPS system’s preventative maintenance to ensure business continuity.
  • Administer electrical contracts, including safety orientation, field inspection and supervision of contract work on various projects on the Region.  Coordinate work activities with internal and external departments and customers to ensure safe, cost-effective execution of projects and programmed maintenance work

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a Degree in Architecture, Engineering or Facilities related designation. Preference will be given to Electrical Engineers;
  •  A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the field of Architecture, Engineering or Facility Management;
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation would be considered an asset;
  • 2+ years’ experience managing staff.
  • Proven design, production, administration and contract skills;
  • Strong project management skills;
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills;
  • Ability to communicate to all levels of management within the Company;
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office and CADD).

Management Conductor Program:
